“Jack Dishel: And Then Things Got Weird” (Comedy residency @ PIT Theater NYC)

Hi friends!

As you may or may not know, I’ve been doing one man comedy shows in NYC for the last six months or so.  They’re an hour long, totally different every time (like, 100%) and ridiculously fun to do.  Sometimes there are special guests (???) and in general it’s a pretty wild west ,high wire cowboy kind of thing.  There’s lots of improvisation and no one really knows what will happen, including me.  This June I’m very excited to be doing a three show residency over three Saturday nights in New York.  Info below…

“Jack Dishel: And Then Things Got Weird

People’s Improv Theater (PIT Main Stage)

123 E 24th St (btw Park Ave & Lexington)

Saturday, June 9th @11pm

Saturday, June 16th @11pm

Saturday, June 23rd @11pm

“Call Them Brothers” (duet with Regina Spektor) video premiere

We’re so excited to present the brand new video for “Call Them Brothers”

Regina Spektor and I wrote this song a while ago and recorded it for Only Son’s “Searchlight” record.  The video was directed and photographed on Super 8mm film by the amazing James Holland (who also directed “Stamp Your Name On It”).

It mixes new footage (shot last winter) with archival film shot by our family friend Howard Zuckerman on a 1983 trip to Soviet Russia.  He also managed to dig up a clip of me as a seven year old in America hamming it up for the camera. Nothing’s changed, eh?

This recording features K Ishibashi on violin and our dear departed friend Dan Cho on cello, both playing beautifully as always.

We liked the song so much that we recorded a brand new acoustic version (it’s brother!) with producer Mike Elizondo this fall in LA. It will appear on the digital deluxe edition of Regina’s new album, “What We Saw From The Cheap Seats” and it’s a totally different thang…

We hope you enjoy it – please share if you do! More updates on the way – we’re gonna be on tour together for most of this year!

Seeya soon, planet Earth………………..

New video for “You Stayed At Home”

Hey everyone,

The new video for “You Stayed At Home” is finished!  It was directed by Shruti Ganguly and shot by Georgina Richardson on a NYC rooftop just before the fall.  After making a bunch of music videos, somehow this is the first time I’ve ever been filmed playing an instrument.   Kind of like a hatmaker being photographed in a butcher shop for five years.  Or not.  Either way, here it is…

Feel free to share if you likey – more videos on the way soon!

The “Stamp Your Name On It” video is here!!!!!

Hello dear friends!

After much anticipation and a lot of tinkering we are very proud to present the brand new video for “Stamp Your Name On It”! It was directed by the more-amazing-than-you-even-realized James Holland and stars a lot of friends, both old and new. I don’t want to spoil the surprise of who is in it but there are some familiar faces doing some very funny things. To say that it was fun to shoot would be a massive understatement, even though we froze our asses off and risked arrest on multiple occasions. And so, without further ado, STAMP YOUR NAME ON IT!!!!! And yo – fullscreen that sucka in HD!!!!!

If you like it, please repost it to your profile or send it to your friends! That’s how things get virusy up in here.

Jack, James & everyone else

Jack Dishel stars w/ Macaulay Culkin in Adam Green’s first feature, “The Wrong Ferarri: A Screwball Tragedy”

Hi everyone,

Funny story. My old pal (and fellow Moldy Peach) Adam Green, decided to shoot a feature film on his iPhone. And he wanted Macaulay Culkin to star in it. And he wanted to shoot it all over the world. And he didn’t want to sell it or have it play in movie theatres – free download and internet stream only. Somehow, all of these things have come to pass. The end product is The Wrong Ferarri: A Screwball Tragedy.

I’m in one of the lead roles as well as many, many talented musicians and actors. Some you might know and some you might not. But the result is one of the most fascinating movies I’ve ever seen and I’m so proud to be in it. Have you ever seen Devendra Banhart play Chief Bagelheart with Evan Dando doing his voice? Or Pete Doherty as a cowboy? Yeah, that’s what I mean. There are hilarious scenes, disgusting scenes, and sad scenes. But somehow the whole thing feels truly poetic, which surprised me and I was IN it. I promise that you’ve never seen a movie like it.

I will warn you that there is some nudity and depicted drug use and you must be over 18 to watch. We recommend that you download it (it could be taken offline at any minute) and watch it in a group. It really enhances the experience. And so, if you click on the photo below – The Wrong Ferarri will be all yours! I’m very excited and honored to present this movie to you.

We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it…..please pass it along to your friends if you do!!!
