The new video for “You Stayed At Home” is finished!  It was directed by Shruti Ganguly and shot by Georgina Richardson on a NYC rooftop just before the fall.  After making a bunch of music videos, somehow this is the first time I’ve ever been filmed playing an instrument.   Kind of like a hatmaker being photographed in a butcher shop for five years.  Or not.  Either way, here it is…

It’s been added to MTVu’s “Freshman 5″ show!! This MTV television channel goes out to hundreds of universities across America – their viewership is over 5 million people! There will be voting all this week for the best video of the five. If we win, OUR VIDEO WILL BE ADDED TO REGULAR ROTATION!!

Voting on their website takes place here, beginning Mon, May 16th & ends Fri, May 20th at 2pm.

After much anticipation and a lot of tinkering we are very proud to present the brand new video for “Stamp Your Name On It”! It was directed by the more-amazing-than-you-even-realized James Holland and stars a lot of friends, both old and new. I don’t want to spoil the surprise of who is in it but there are some familiar faces doing some very funny things. To say that it was fun to shoot would be a massive understatement, even though we froze our asses off and risked arrest on multiple occasions. And so, without further ado, STAMP YOUR NAME ON IT!!!!! And yo – fullscreen that sucka in HD!!!!!

Funny story. My old pal (and fellow Moldy Peach) Adam Green, decided to shoot a feature film on his iPhone. And he wanted Macaulay Culkin to star in it. And he wanted to shoot it all over the world. And he didn’t want to sell it or have it play in movie theatres – free download and internet stream only. Somehow, all of these things have come to pass. The end product is The Wrong Ferarri: A Screwball Tragedy.

I’m in one of the lead roles as well as many, many talented musicians and actors. Some you might know and some you might not. But the result is one of the most fascinating movies I’ve ever seen and I’m so proud to be in it. Have you ever seen Devendra Banhart play Chief Bagelheart with Evan Dando doing his voice? Or Pete Doherty as a cowboy? Yeah, that’s what I mean. There are hilarious scenes, disgusting scenes, and sad scenes. But somehow the whole thing feels truly poetic, which surprised me and I was IN it. I promise that you’ve never seen a movie like it.

I will warn you that there is some nudity and depicted drug use and you must be over 18 to watch. We recommend that you download it (it could be taken offline at any minute) and watch it in a group. It really enhances the experience. And so, if you click on the photo below – The Wrong Ferarri will be all yours! I’m very excited and honored to present this movie to you.

This time the guests were the amazing Sarah Silverman (I’m a big fan) and Rolling Stone magazine’s fearless Matt Taibbi (I’m also a big fan). Regina Spektor and I sang two duets (starting somewhere around 17:15 I think) and spent the rest of the time laughing our asses off at these smart and funny people. Now you can, too…..

The bombardment continues. The “Searchlight” video has premiered on Paste Magazine! The third video from the new album finds our hero (who looks very much like me) tweaking out in his apartment getting more than a little bit paranoid. Come for the facial tics. Stay for the gangly arm flails during the electric violin solo. Yeah, that sentence was real.

The video was directed & edited by the phenomenal, multi-talented Eddie “Pull” Frente. Why does his name sound familiar, you ask? Because he also co-produced and mixed the entire Searchlight album. How does he do it, you ask? Nobody knows. But what a fella! Cinematographer extraordinaire Benjamin Oliver makes things feel even creepier, as if that were necessary. There are some shadows with very bad intentions on the walls. Is our hero safe? Find out…..
